PROJECT ECHO

MHLMUMC supports Calvert County's homeless shelter by providing six meals per year.  Through the UMW, we take dinner for 25 people plus staff on the first Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November.  We have been providing this service since the early 1990s.  There is a coordinator assigned for each month, along with a list of helpers.  If you are interested in helping with this project, please contact Betty Gowland at (301) 855-5484.  For additional information on Project Echo, please visit

RED BIRD MISSION

MHLMUMC has been supporting the Red Bird Mission facility in Beverly KY for many years.  We send monetary support and items for the Mission's outreach projects as well as its on-site school.  

Our Red Bird Mission tree will be up from August 12 through September 16.  The following items are needed:  full size flat sheets, large cookware/utensils, new infant/child car seats, hygiene supplies, laundry detergent, diapers/pull-ups, Depend products, peanut butter, cotton material for quilting, hand quilting and tacking thread, infant/child furniture, craft supplies with lesson plans, latex free gloves, baby formula, canned tuna, canned beef stew.  Also needed for the Christmas Room are the following items:  personal hygiene items, toys, Christian materials, clothing, school supplies, books, crafts, batteries, gifts for moms and dads.  If you would like to make a monetary donation, make your check payable to the church and write "Red Bird" in the memo space or you can put cash in an appropriately marked envelope.

HENDERSON SETTLEMENT

From August 12 through September 16, we will also be collecting items fort he Henderson Settlement, an affiliated mission site int he Kentucky Area.  The following new items are needed:  toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, soap, lotion, baby wipes, tissues, wash cloths, towels, shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes, diapers, paper plates, cups, dish detergent, Tylenol.  If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make your check out to the church and write "Henderson Settlement" in the memo space or put cash in an appropriately marked envelope.
